Banana Puree

Well the rumors are true-babies love bananas, well at least Stella does. Based on the EWG’s organic list, bananas are a middle-of-the-road food. I opted to buy regular bananas. Stella loved the banana puree and it was a nice change after her Pea Puree protest. I kept a couple of the purees in the fridge and they will naturally discolor (similar to Avocado Puree)

Ingredients
5 Bananas
5 ounces of breast milk or prepared formula (if using breast milk-use fresh milk not frozen)

Directions
In your blender, add the breast milk or prepared formula first.

Peel bananas and break into pieces. Put into blender.

Using the puree setting, puree 15 seconds, scrape sides and then puree again for 15 additional seconds.

Makes 23 ounces.

Baby Food Storage
I store my baby food in 2 ounce plastic containers that I purchased from Babies R Us. Peapods also has containers for sale. You can also fill ice cube trays and once they are frozen, you can pop them out and store them in a feezer bag. Defrost food containers when ready to use by letting them soak in a container of hot water. Baby food can be safely frozen for 3 months. Use defrosted baby food within 24 hours of defrosting. Fresh purees can be safely refridgerated for 2 days.

Based on my research on organic foods, frozen sweet peas … Continue reading

Avocado Puree

I decided that for Stella’s second solid food, she’d try Avocado, which according to most books is apparently a fruit-who knew! And according to EWG Avocado is low on the list for foods you need to buy organic so I just bought regular avocados. My family thought it was weird that I was feeding Stella … Continue reading

Thaisagna

Before the TCL competition started I was really perplexed about Wednesday’s competition-International dish featuring items from Cub’s international aisle. I had a bunch of recipes in mind but nothing seemed right. So I went to Cub to brainstorm-yeah I’m weird. Anyway, I thought of an idea to combine what’s great from Thai dishes and make … Continue reading

Party Peppers with Veggie Confetti

I started making stuffed peppers years ago for me and Will. The great thing about stuffed peppers is that you can stuff them with whatever you like and green peppers are available year round. I originally came up with this recipe for the Hidden Valley Ranch state fair contest and then altered it for the … Continue reading
