Pear Banana Puree

Since the pear puree was such a hit with Stella, I made a double fruit puree of pears and bananas. I used organic pears as they are pretty high on the EWG list of foods you should buy organic and regular bananas. Some recipes will have you remove the skins from the pears after cooking, I leave them on and they chop up to such tiny pieces you can’t even tell they are in there and they also provide fiber!

Ingredients
2 medium organic pears
2 bananas
3 ounces of breast milk or prepared formula (if using breast milk-use fresh milk not frozen)

Directions
Wash and core pears. Dice into small pieces.

Fill a medium sauce pan with 2 cups of water and place steamer basket inside. Steam pears for 7 minutes.

In your blender, put in your liquid and then pears and diced bananas. If you are putting the pears in right after steaming, remove the small cap off your blender and put a towel over the hole while operating.

Using the puree setting, puree 20 seconds, scrape sides and then puree again for 20 additional seconds.

Baby Food Storage
I store my baby food in 2 ounce plastic containers that I purchased from Babies R Us. Peapods also has containers for sale. You can also fill ice cube trays and once they are frozen, you can pop them out and store them in a feezer bag. Defrost food containers when ready to use by letting them soak in a container of hot water. Baby food can be safely frozen for 3 months. Use defrosted baby food within 24 hours of defrosting. Fresh purees can be safely refridgerated for 2 days.
